(Will wrote this May 31...I've been slacking)
.... This has been a very stressful yet awesome week....
We'll start from the beginning,
Our challenge this week was to find 'new investigators' who are people
that you teach a lesson to and set up a return appointment...
ANYHOW- Recently with a spike in baptisms our zone has had lows in
lessons... which is acceptable due to the spike in baptisms.. we
finally reached a goal! haha.. which most missionaries haven't in
their mission.. sad stuff. haha
Anyways the goal for the week was to have 25 New Investigators in the
zone. So we worked to find some new ones.. finally having Bob Wright
make an appointment (he's a great dude, kinda fried from hippy life,
but nice.. thought he was mormon, he was RLDS).. and another guy set
up an appointment. .. .. and Clyde who doesn't technically live in our
boundaries but the other missionaries are failures and we don't trust
them to teach him..
So we had contributed and put it on the backburner for a day or two as
we got busy.. The Thang family moved to Kentucky, so we said goodbye
to them.... we have been praying for a good replacement for the Thang
family cause- we're gonna miss them a lot... Well, the Lord heard our
prayers! We met ALL their cousins and we're teaching them.. (That's 7
New investigators) It's going to be really good.. They feel the spirit
really easily and Iang who is a 17 year old girl, seems to be really
committed to coming to church and everything.. (she reaaaaaallly likes
us.... probably more us than the gospel right now, but we can work
with that.. haha) ..
Another great thing we've been trying this week is sharing scriptures
with people while contacting. Being Missionaries or ministers, people
expect us to teach scriptures and say prayers awkwardly in public. So
we do it. Having lessons right on the sidewalk has actually been a
really positive experience. We got another couple investigators for
the spanish Elders this way..
Also- Our only on-date is spanish technically, but he likes us better
than them.. Alejandro is progressing a lot. I think I told you the
story of him.. [so you can enter that in here]
anyways, He's sharing the gospel a lot invited several friends to go
to the spanish branch with him, and has committed to quitting
alcohol.. it made him sick but I "told me something good little
brother"... haha I told him "alcohol WILL kill you and pull you away
from your father in heaven" he's taken it to heart.
It's so amazing the miracles we're seeing here....
As the week went on we ended up having about 8 or so New investigators
and the zone reached our goal.. we also had a great break out week
getting back to our bigger numbers.. and topped 21 lessons for the
first time in 3 weeks.. it's legit.. I love teaching so much!
Transfer calls came last saturday.. and today was transfer day... We
got calls and Elder Jackson and I are staying in Burien!.. we had a
little scare on monday when Elder Graves called and said we needed to
be at transfer meeting.. but then he told us we were getting a car..
:) Burien has never had a car before.. and at transfer meeting we
found out that we are apparently famous around the mission for our
miracle May... it's good to be in the service of the Lord.
I love this work so much.. I can't even tell you how amazing it was to
Baptize Tialmon this last week.. and to Confirm Teray on sunday. The
priesthood is such a huge blessing in our lives. We need these
ordinances to progress!
Everyone should read the book of mormon EVERYDAY.. so do it.. It'll
bless your life so much I can't even tell you.. keep being amazing
everyone.. pray for me and send me your love via mail :)
-Love always, Elder Hilllllllll
p.s. We finally recieved retaliation prank by the spanish elders.....
it was so good.. i can't even tell you.. I'll send pics if you remind
me. :( got owned..
