Hey e'erybody!
How is everyone doing? I'm doing well, thank you :)
This week was really awesome.. we got a car.. and were way way more
productive some how.. I think transportation does that for me.. haha
it was sad that we didn't get as many crazy homeless guy stories this
week.. never saw 'mr. coolwalk' .. bummer.
Anyhow.. This week was one of great finding. had 9 new investigators
and 1/4 of the zone's total... which is crazy.. for example last
trasnfer we had 11 total..
One of the new families we are teaching is straight out of Iraq. They
have been Christian for many many generations and got out because lets
be real- Iraq isn't a very good place to live, especially for a
Christian. His name is Aziz and he was SUPER SUPER excited to have a
book of mormon (little mini miracle, we found a book of mormon in
Arabic a few weeks ago and I said "I'm gonna place it."... didn't
really think I'd get a chance.. )... IN arabic.. haha Well- that was
on wednesday.. Yesterday he didn't show up for church so we went to
his house to find out why and he had MEGA questions about thebook of
mormon, mostly because he's 70 years old and used to give sermons in
his church, and has NEVER heard of the Book of Mormon before.. he read
about half of it in 2 days.. and had notes and underlines in it. He
was really cought off guard by the 'prophet in 1823' part.. Which
would usually make you sad because he has an issue.. but in this
circumstance, he just said it was "hard for him to believe"... alas
with these foreign people they really are sensative to the spirit.. he
said he would continue to meet and pray about it. :) Life is good. We
have a lesson set up to show him around the church and teach him
about the Apostacy this Wednesday. :)
Another great miracle... was this guy named Eddie, he started talking
to us and asking questions.. said a lot of funny stuff like "Man got
nobody to be afraid of but God, Nobody but God.. ain't nothin that
should scare you except God..." then he paused thinking.. and said
"'Cept you bein' chased by a bear or a lion or something, that's scary
[stuff] right there.. I'm afraid of that as well." haha.. (I edited it
a little.) We got him to talk a little more and gave him a book of
mormon after sharing several verses from it. it's pretty amazing.. he
promised he would come to church....... someday :( .... wouldn't
commit to ever... haha
Overall it was a great week, we got Alejandro to come to a baptism and
the Spanish Elders witnessed him teaching a couple people about the
restoration on the street.. hahaha already a missionary.. super
cool... and we also had more 'other lessons' than I've ever had
before... it was epic, the work is so amazing..
I really felt blessed this week... I have been thinking about all the
things I wish I hadn't done in the past, and all the time I could have
used more efficiently... but- Alas, Elder Hope taught a great lesson
on repentance.. and I forgive myself.. and I hope everyone forgives me
too :)... it's a commandment afterall.. haha
I love this work, I know it's true. It's so simple... just ask the
Lord and you can know it too :)
